The authors' intention was to present the "cold facts" of cancer in this huge, 902-page text. They have summarized and analyzed the major advances in cancer research in recent years, with emphasis on the concept of cancer. Their book, subdivided into three parts, contains 23 chapters, with 2916 references for the tables and 3442 references for the text. Part 1, "Fundamental Concepts," has 7 chapters; Part 2, "Cellular Aspects of Cancer," has 6 chapters; and Part 3, "Cancer in an Individual," has 10 chapters. The last chapter, on treatment of cancer, has 281 pages, with 1555 references.
