Many internists and most endocrinologists will occasionally care for children and adolescents and may lack confidence in their abilities to recognize and treat the abnormalities of growth and development that so often result from endocrine disorders in this age group. Several large textbooks of pediatric endocrinology have been available for many years. This new book is modest in size but probably will prove more useful than the previous tomes.

Like many multiauthored books, there is some unevenness in style and depth of coverage. On the whole, however, the chapters cover their topics adequately and in some instances superbly. Tables and
