This excerpt has been provided in the absence of an abstract.

There are few books on the subject of health care for older women. The appearance of this text reveals a real and growing need. Although the subjects of health care for women and of health care for persons of both sexes are congruent, they are not identical; and the classic text on treating older persons does not do justice to the subject of female patients.

The authors eschew an encyclopedic consideration of all possible problems and instead address the most pressing and prominent areas. They thoroughly discuss the demographics and biology of aging, topics familiar to anyone knowledgeable about aging.
