Tamoxifen Therapy for Retroperitoneal Fibrosis

    On the basis of a series of 19 patients with nonmalignant retroperitoneal fibrosis (RPF), van Bommel and colleagues (1) suggest that tamoxifen may be an effective treatment option. Their study is a relevant contribution, mostly because the use of tamoxifen therapy for RPF had previously been described only in anecdotal case reports. However, a few points warrant discussion.
