I love you Mr. Sanchez for your beard
hides animals that leave filth.
I love you for your eyes,
clear and green, are beautiful.
Your glasses, missing an earpiece,
ride at an angle on your nose.
I love you for the stink that greets me
at the length of your arm in handshake.
I love you for your noncompliance,
most clever and ignorant.
The eviction papers, the sores on your back
breed in me affection and contempt.
You are my utility.
You turn me from introspection
and focus my eyes, blank and brown,
on the twisting canyon of need
