The interest of the medical visitor to Honolulu turns naturally to leprosy, first of all, as the most advertised disease to be seen in the Islands. The tale of the leper is so bound up with the history and romance of Hawaii, from the time of the early missionaries and Father Damien down to the stories of Jack London, who certainly had a more accurate knowledge of the clinical aspects of leprosy than we might expect from a writer of fiction.
