Immunization of school children against diphtheria with Toxin-Antitoxin has been undertaken on a wholesale scale in Iowa. The physicians of our little city were asked to give these injections, working in relays at the school building, using a stock serum manufactured by a well known firm, and supplied by the State Board of Health. Having fresh in my mind an article by Gersterley (1) reporting a sudden death from nephritis in a child who had been immunized, I asked that the children be sent to their own physician where a suitable history could be taken and physical examination made.
