Three hundred and eighty-four years before Christ came to Bethlehem Aristotle was a babe in ancient Macedonia. From the womb of Phoestis had sprung the master mind of all ages "The sovereign lord of the understanding." Two and a half centuries before Saint Paul received the call for help in Macedonia, this little kingdom, resting quietly on the fringe of Athenian glory, had sent into the world the first evangel of natural history and the rightful progenitor of all the positive sciences: The author of logical thinking and the stabilizer of metaphysics.
