The manuscript copies of the various chapters of this volume were completed in 1911. The delay in publication has been due to factors beyond the control of the authors. To the careful reader of Volume I and II, it will be evident that there is a distinct conflict between the two joint principal authors of this report. This conflict concerns personal viewpoint, methods of presentation and interpretation of scientific data, and apparently in some instances, even accuracy of record of observations.
