In presenting data relative to the maintenance dosage of liver extract or other substances potent in the treatment of pernicious anemia, it is necessary to define and state the requirements which this term implies. Beebe and Lewis1 have clearly defined these requirements in a recent report of a large series of cases observed at the Thorndike Memorial Laboratory and at the Boston City Hospital.
