What Should the Pharmacopoeia Contain? One of the functions of the Revision Committee is to admit into the Pharmacopoeia a carefully selected list of medicinal substances of known origin, possessing therapeutic usefulness. This object differs in no essential detail from that enjoined on the Revision Committee of the first edition published 114 years ago, which stated that the object was "to select from among substances which possess a medicinal power, those, the utility of which is most fully established and best understood."
