The preparation of this book has resulted from the author's experience in the teaching of immunology to medical students and the college students whose major work has been in bacteriology. It has been written primarily for them rather than for those intending to specialize in immunology. Sherwood has attempted to present this science in such a manner as to induce the student to correlate with it some of his knowledge of other subjects and to utilize this knowledge in the explanation both of infection and resistance and of the various serologic procedures.
