A recent editorial note in The United States Army Medical Bulletin states that a number of severe reactions due to typhus vaccine have been reported to the Surgeon General's Office, but that the number is negligible in comparison to the number of doses of egg vaccine administered. We have had occasion to observe all autopsied material in a South Pacific base. Only one case has come to autopsy as a result of typhus vaccine administration. Roth2 has recently reviewed 32 cases of reactions to typhus vaccine. These reactions have been divided into two types. The first group consists chiefly of
