This is a valuable aid to the clinical study of the most commonly encountered symptom, pain. It is the latest addition to the "Practitioner Handbook" series, and as such many of the chapters have already appeared in that excellent monthly publication The Practitioner; on the other hand several new sections have been written expressly to complete the scope of this text. Each chapter is written by a leading British authority, and the contents are designed to aid in elucidating the three main problems posed by every pain—the course of its conveying fibers, its significance in diagnosis and its relief.
