This Scottish text is the fruit of the author's twenty years of teaching experience in Glasgow. It is based on Dr. Peel's lecture notes, and is therefore intended primarily as an introduction to cardiovascular disease for students and general practitioners.
Since the first edition in 1946 such procedures as auricular catheterization, phonocardiography, angiocardiography and electrocardiography with multiple unipolar chest leads have shed new light on many cardiovascular subjects, and this new knowledge is incorporated in the present edition.
