Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura is a rare disease of which only a few cases have been diagnosed ante mortem.4 Because of the rarity of diagnosis, other than at the autopsy table, few laboratory data pertaining to the interesting hematologic features of this disease have been recorded. The literature has been reviewed recently and the clinical features of the syndrome seem well established.5 We have had the opportunity to study a case of this disease prior to death and were able to perform several tests of interest in the further understanding of this syndrome.
