This book is an interesting excursion into a fresh field. In presenting the art of pediatric diagnosis it begins with the symptom or sign and suggests avenues of reasoning which may lead to the diagnosis. This approach is used in the familiar diagnostic indexes, which deal mainly with adult medicine, but it is not emphasized in the textbooks of pediatrics. This is the approach which physicians must use in seeking a diagnosis: books like this can help one to formulate one's mental catalogue of symptoms.
