Although at the time of this writing there have been no original reports in the American literature on the use of demecolcin ("Colcemide"-Ciba) in leukemia, the drug has had considerable use in Europe. The only report in the English literature appeared in the British Medical Journal in April, 1955, by Leonard and Wilkinson.1 There have been several interesting reviews in the European literature on the effect of demecolcin in various neoplastic conditions.2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 Although the drug exhibits some antimitotic action in a variety of neoplasms, it is the consensus of all authors that demecolcin is most
