First of the Ciba Foundation Symposia to be devoted to an aspect of the alimentary tract, The Exocrine Pancreas comes from authors who, in almost every instance, are among the most respected and currently productive in their areas. The 16 presentations are organized into 5 sections: "Ultrastructure and Histochemistry"; "Nature of Pancreatic Secretion"; "Physiological Control of Pancreatic Secretion"; "Assessment of Pancreatic Function"; and "Abnormal Pancreas: Genetic and Metabolic Aspects". Following each article is an always interesting and occasionally heated discussion. The book closes with a general discussion "emphasizing lines for future research."
