The Alfred Stengel Memorial Award was established in 1947 by the Board of Regents of the American College of Physicians to honor a Fellow or Master for long and loyal service to the College, as well as for outstanding contributions to medical practice, research, and education. This year the Alfred Stengel Memorial Award was given to Dr. Walter Lincoln Palmer of Chicago. Dr. Palmer is a Master and a Past President of the College (1956-57).
