Dr. Shepherd's monograph is of greater general interest to physicians than its title suggests. For some time we have needed a readable compilation of the new knowledge on the peripheral circulation. Dr. Shepherd has supplied that need. He started with the qualification of having been a member of the team working in Belfast who made notable contributions to our understanding of the interplay between the peripheral circulation and the general circulation; he is now associated with the Mayo Foundation where active interest in the clinical aspects of peripheral circulation has continued for many years.
