The continuing experimentation in books on physiology is a clear indication that a satisfactory solution has not been found. The authoritative multi-authored text, the single or double authored text particularly designed for medical students, and the specialized monograph have been reviewed previously in these pages. Still the medical student complains about his sources of information, and the two books reviewed here are attempts to make his introduction to physiology as applied to medicine less painful.
