The administration of deslanoside to normal individuals is associated with a decrease in the duration of left ventricular ejection (LVET). This effect of the drug, which occurs in the absence of change in cardiac output, reflects its positive inotropic action and has been employed to study the temporal course and dose response relationships of deslanoside, ouabain and Lanoxin in man.
