Dr. Engley has designed his compact reference guide for both the medical microbiologist and also "to fill a large void in the knowledge of medical personnel." The 338 pages are crammed with a great number of facts related to the microbiological diagnosis of infectious diseases. Though much of the material may have little use for the practicing clinician, the flow sheets depicting the proper steps in examining cultures from a variety of human sources are a most helpful learning device.
