The third revision of this excellent volume, while both outlining and emphasizing precise hematologic procedure, again treats the basic subject well beyond the phase of mere technique. It begins with a succinct and commendable 12-page explanation of statistics as applied to laboratory data, an explanation well introduced, in a manner understandable to the nonmathematically oriented reader. This approach is properly reused throughout the book where the elements of error in individual hematologic methods and observations are analyzed briefly, by statistics.
