The main strength of this book comes from its clinical descriptions, which reflect the authors' extensive personal experience in studying tropical diseases. Their purpose in writing it (as stated in the forward of the first edition) is to provide "that information essential for clinical diagnosis and treatment of those diseases which occur primarily in the tropics"; this purpose they have very well achieved.
