Physical and chemical concepts applicable to clinical biochemistry are developed with a degree of rigor extending to the use of differential equations. The range of topics covered includes chemical concentration and titration principles; acid-base phenomena; thermodynamics; osmosis; redox reactions; enzyme kinetics; compartment, clearance, and indicator curve concepts; isotope kinetics; Donnan distribution; the Lambert-Beer law. A final 43-page chapter reviews the calculus, series functions, statistics, and other mathematical background. It is the same type of text as Mansfield Clark's long out-of-print Topics in Physical Chemistry.
