The earlier editions of this textbook have been widely used by students for 20 years. It has now been thoroughly revised by new authors who have been most successful in presenting a very readable and lucid text. They have included a good deal of recently acquired information obtained with new techniques that throw light on brain ultrastructure and organization. Subjects of burgeoning research interest, such as the reticular formation, limbic system, and thalamus are well-summarized. The volume is superbly illustrated.
