This short monograph reviews in concise form the essential features of some of the more important disorders of voluntary muscle: muscular dystrophies, myotonias, periodic paralysis, phosphorylase deficiency, myoglobinuria, polymyositis, myasthenia gravis, and myopathies related to metabolic and endocrinologic disorders. Brief summaries are presented of the clinical description, pathology, chemistry, and treatment of each disorder. While these summaries are necessarily sketchy, they are presented clearly and in simplified fashion with emphasis on the highlights of each disorder.
