The appearance of the expanded third edition of Davson's Textbook of General Physiology undoubtedly places in the hands of the physiologist and clinician a classic compendium in the area of general physiology. Those familiar with the second edition will recognize the expansion which was necessary to bring the book into focus with recent work; yet, with judicious selection of material and clarity of presentation, the book remains appropriate as a teaching text.
