In the preface, Drs. Krugman and Ward point out that this book is intended primarily for pediatricians, general practioners, and medical students. Thus, their aim is to supply concise and useful information to the clinician, and in this aim their book is quite successful. In its relative brevity, their discussion of clinical infectious disease is very complete and current. Supplementing the text is a considerable number of important and some quite current references, many of which, unfortunately, are not cited in the text.
