Those concerned with teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels of disturbed function of the nervous system as applied to man find themselves deluged with aberrations in ultrastructure, enzyme abnormalities, protein synthesis, chromosomal aberrations, lipid chemistry, abnormalities of the glycolytic pathways, and a variety of other subcellular events. No single text has in the past attempted to give the student meeting these varieties of complexities an introduction in simple terms to the elementary bases of disordered function. As a result, the student is usually sent to complex monographs or advanced papers in which he is ill-equipped to handle the information
