Medical genetics has been expanding so rapidly that it is difficult for a person to maintain the field in its proper perspective. Pointing his monograph at ". . . students of biology and medicine, whether undergraduate or graduate . . .," Dr. Knudson has given us a well-rounded, concise, and carefully edited summary of genetic mechanisms that influence common clinical disorders. He has made the assumption that the reader has a basic background in simple genetic principles and spends little time on the primary concepts of inheritance. By so doing, he has kept the text clinically oriented and intellectually stimulating.
