Seventeen major papers and numerous discussions and short communications are included in this conference report. The first section deals with kinetic studies concerning the interactions of coagulation factors, particularly those involved in the early stages. Mounting evidence supports the "cascade" or "waterfall" theory, which conceives of a sequential series of reactions culminating in the precipitation of fibrin. Some warning against complete acceptance of this attractive theory is included in the discussion, although remarkably wide agreement between investigators from different parts of the world is evident. A second section contains miscellaneous papers concerning phospholipids and blood coagulation. The metabolism of coagulation
