With the appearance of Volume III the revision of this great reference work is complete. Mainly clinical in its orientation, about one third of this volume deals with liver disease, a third with the gallbladder and pancreas, and the remainder with miscellaneous topics. The well-illustrated section on parasitology is excellent, and there are several chapters on the digestive system related to other organ systems. New sections on abdominal vascular disease and angiography are generously illustrated and make a particularly valuable contribution at the moment.
There are faults. In not a few areas the reviews seem unnecessarily discursive and long, and
