Derived from an instructional course presented at the last 19 annual meetings of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, nearly all of this book is devoted to postural mechanics, disk lesions, and anomalies of the lumbosacral spine. A welcome bonus is a definitive discussion of the indications and techniques of Williams' famous exercises.
The reader is left with a view of disk disease seen in proper perspective to predisposing lesions. Williams drives home his point that mechanical factors must be painstakingly assessed prior to surgery, even in the presence of positive evidence of a herniated disk.
