Conciseness of presentation is an outstanding characteristic of Wolf's little book about concentrative properties. There is an excellent and brief introduction to methods and derivations of such properties as density, specific gravity, freezing point, conductivity, and refraction. In this section one can clarify his thinking about the distinctions between density and specific gravity, molarity and molality, osmolality and osmosity, refraction and refractivity, and other terminologies which are often confusing. Attention is given to the various pitfalls in utilizing a given concentrative property as a tool for deriving another. It becomes apparent, for instance, that the refraction of many solutions offers
