Since original publication in 1944 of this deservedly popular introduction to electrocardiography, the authors have adhered to their basic intent in presenting the basic principles involved in the interpretation of electrocardiograms in a clear and concise manner.
The fifth edition presents only a few minor changes from the fourth. These include a detailed tabulation of data in infants, children, and adults, a paragraph devoted to electrocardiographic changes usually associated with infarction of the papillary muscles, and a paragraph describing the changes in areas of the heart muscle which are depolarized in the mid-and late parts of the cardiac cycle.
