This selection of 39 of the papers that were presented at the International Conference on Comparability in Epidemiologic Studies (held at Princeton, N. J., in 1964 under the sponsorship of the International Epidemiological Association) consists of papers written by epidemiologists for epidemiologists, and it would seem clear, therefore, that this book is unnecessary. Every epidemiologist worthy of the name is only too painfully aware of the crucial need for and horrendous difficulty of comparability of epidemiologic studies—whether international or not.
The only appropriate audience for this book is the amateur or the student—to frighten them into caution and to give
