As in all fields of rapid current development, the bounteous acquisition of information in neurology has presented urgent and continuing needs for systematization and clearly constructed syntheses of scientific developments. It is the aim of the Contemporary Neurology Series to present short monographs on clinical topics, designed to help fill such needs.
