Despite a number of revisions and additions, the latest edition of this well-established textbook closely resembles its predecessor in structure and content. The section on blood and lymph now provides a more extensive treatment of hematopoiesis and the role of lymphocytes in immunological processes. An excellent chapter by Prof. Dauphinee on the regulation of hydrogen ion concentration of body fluids is a model of clarity and greatly facilitates the understanding of this complex subject.
