Most of these papers from the April 1967 meeting of ASAIO are devoted to technical considerations of hemodialysis (extracorporeal and peritoneal) and artificial blood pumps and oxygenators. However, clinicians who are not specialists in this field will find some useful reading in the papers on calcium-related cardiorespiratory death in chronic hemodialysis (Davidson and Pendras), long-time dialysis effects on uremic neuropathy (Tenckhoff, Jebsen, and Honet), and reversible cardiomyopathy in uremia (Bailey, Hampers, and Merrill).
An especially valuable paper is the detailed review by Maher and Schreiner, "The Dialysis of Poisons and Drugs," based on personal communications, the wide experience of the
