To the Editor: The field of genetics has a terminology and a language that are complex and difficult. As authors and editors we should do our best to avoid the introduction of further difficulties. The article by Miller, Goodman, Miller, and Nusbaum in the October 1967 issue of the ANNALS was delinquent in this regard. The article contained repeated references to a "deleted Y chromosome." In reality they were referring to a "long-arm deletion of the Y chromosome." It would seem that a deleted Y chromosome is one that is absent. The authors, however, confusingly indicated that "cells possessed the
