A psychological and philosophical look at sport by a teacher of physical education. Sport is considered as a special case of living. The author describes the spiritual (in a secular sense) value of athletic activity and games and pleads for that authenticity in the athlete's self-expression which is the characteristic of emotionally honest being and living in all of life.
This unusual and perhaps unique book is clearly worth the attention of those psychiatrists and other physicians especially concerned with school and college health.
