One of the major problems in the study of blood coagulation is the preparation of reagents free from trace contamination with other coagulation factors. Specific antisera have been used to remove unwanted contaminants and also in the study of reaction kinetics. The first part of the book deals with the chemical separation, usually by chromatographic methods, of moderately to highly purified clotting factors (II, VII, IX, X, V, and VIII). The most highly purified were used as antigens to immunize rabbits. Resulting antisera, if multivalent, were absorbed with high concentrations of purified plasma fraction(s) containing the unwanted coagulation factor(s). The
