To the Editor: It is with some interest that we read the two articles in the January issue of the ANNALS concerning Pneumocystis carinii. The paper by Vogel, Cohen, Powell, and DeVita is an excellent discussion; the point concerning the use of needle biopsy as a diagnostic procedure is well-taken, and we were happy to report the first case so diagnosed (1) although we are sure Dr. Vogel and associates' paper had been submitted before our presentation.
The paper by Jarnum, Rasmussen, Ohlsen, and Sørensen, however, raises several major points for consideration. Rosen, Castleman, and Liebow (2) were the first
