Schettler's book is an interesting attempt to assemble and describe a myriad of aspects in the complex and rapidly developing area of lipid metabolism and lipid storage diseases. The book is primarily of benefit to research-oriented clinicians and biochemists who are confronted from time to time with cases having abnormalities in these areas. The basic organization of the book is good. The early chapters are devoted to brief and well-organized reviews and descriptions of lipid chemistry and metabolism.
