Because of the birth of molecular-level genetics within the last 15 years, few physicians are conversant with most current developments in the field of genetics. Dr. Hsia and his collaborators have undertaken to present in book form the medical genetics course as given to students at Northwestern University. The resultant volume is both elementary and readable with an emphasis on general concepts rather than on experimental detail. Unfortunately not all laboratories listed by Dr. Hsia in his table of Human Genetics Counseling Centers have his facilities or enthusiasm for consultation.
