In the past several years there have appeared a number of excellent reviews relative to the current state of complex interrelationships among kidney, adrenal gland, salt, water, autonomic nervous system, and the hypertensive diseases. Unfortunately, a manuscript has not appeared that brings together all of the various advances in this rapidly expanding and increasingly important field. The present book provides the first and a most successful attempt at such an endeavor since the original classic volume on Renal Hypertension, published by Braun-Menendez and associates in 1946. As noted in the preface, this book centers around a symposium on renovascular hypertension
