"Toxomycosis" of paprika slicers is an illness related to slicing moldy paprika. Clouds of spores are expelled into the air during the processing of diseased paprika, leading to a pernicious cough and systemic symptoms. The concept of toxomycosis is the central theme of this book and is used to group together many occupational diseases. Apparently, toxomycosis is a term developed by the authors to link various occupational diseases such as paprika slicer's disease and farmer's lung as well as afflictions of hideloader's, brim-corn workers, millers, bakers, malt processors, distillers and a myriad of other occupations.
